Compact pure Class A integrated amplifier with 25W + 25W into 8 ohms, a 200W toroidal transformer, discrete transistor amplification, Japanese ALPS volume control, and an all-aluminum chassis.

SKU: 99 Category:

The direct-print British Fax A1 amplifier features a pure Class A design, a meticulously optimized dual-mono layout, single-point star grounding, a custom-designed shielded high-performance 120W toroidal transformer, Novartis filter capacitors with a total capacitance of 40,000μF, a fully discrete component amplification circuit, selected power transistors of the same model as the original unit, Japanese imported ALPS potentiometers and power switches, and an all-aluminum alloy chassis for excellent heat dissipation. It delivers 25W per channel at 8 ohms (equivalent to 75W in a Class AB amplifier) and 60W per channel at 4 ohms (equivalent to 180W in a Class AB amplifier). The sound is relaxed and natural, especially the captivating fullness of the mid-low frequencies; the timbre is warm, vibrant, and delicate without sacrificing resolution and dynamics; the three frequency ranges are extremely smooth, with high density in the mid-low frequencies and strong vocal impact; the slightly faster high-frequency roll-off effectively eliminates sibilance in poorly recorded vocals; and the soundstage is accurately reproduced and positioned.

The A1 circuit was first designed in 1982 by the late British audio genius Tim de Paravicini. Its prototype was an experimental circuit Tim built on a breadboard, aiming to achieve the same sound quality as a vacuum tube amplifier using transistor amplification.

The A1 is an integrated amplifier employing a pure Class A circuit design, achieving a warm and sweet sound with excellent musicality. While its power output of 25W per channel isn’t particularly high, its excellent design and strong current output capability are sufficient to drive home bookshelf speakers or small floorstanding speakers, showcasing excellent sound quality.

Since 2009, we have been deeply studying the circuit design of the British Fax A1 for over 15 years. We have now mastered its essence, and it’s no exaggeration to say that our A1 amplifiers have the best sound among similar products! We launched the A1 amplifier back in 2011, and its superior sound quality quickly won market recognition at the time. Today, we reintroduce the all-new A1 amplifier, employing Tim de Paravicini’s original design philosophy. Its meticulously optimized dual-mono layout, star-shaped single-point grounding design, and precision-crafted modern high-performance electronic components elevate the A1 to a whole new level in terms of distortion, channel separation, and signal-to-noise ratio, fully showcasing the unique characteristics of the A1 circuitry. The new A1 delivers exceptional musicality, a realistic and immersive soundstage, a warm and delicate sound with a strong sense of airiness, and profound emotional expression, allowing listeners to be completely immersed in the music—unforgettable and captivating.
